Cadillac / Nordstrom Event

I can't even begin to talk about all that I've been up to lately. As a super short recap, I (finally!) landed my first full-time, paid job and I honestly couldn't be happier. I work at a boutique PR firm and my boss just might be the coolest and nicest person ever. It's been about a month and I am LOVING it. Everyday is different - exciting meetings, interesting people, creative brainstorms. It keeps me on my toes and I interact with some pretty mind-blowing people on a daily basis. To say the least, I feel so lucky to be in this position.

On another note, I was invited to this intimate and totally creative event a couple weeks ago. Cadillac hosted a fashion-savvy crowd in their new Luxury Lounge just outside of Nordstrom in The Shops at North Bridge on Michigan Ave. A Cadillac representative was there to introduce the new (and totally sleek) ATS model, and shortly after, a Nordstrom personal stylist highlighted fall's hottest trends with the help of a few models. As if I wasn't already excited enough to do some fall shopping, the Nordstrom stylist amped up my shopping ambitions with some well put together looks. (My favorite featured a pair of to-die-for Miu Miu heels with a surprise element - glitter on the back of the heel!) Drinks and small bites were served, and I have to say, the food was delish. From the shiny car to the bold fashions to the luxurious feel of the lounge (which is open for shoppers to rest, plug in and recharge, literally), the event was a mix of lust-worthy items that had me wanting more.

The cherry on top of the event was the $100 Nordstrom gift card I won by live-tweeting from the event. I'd like to say I saved the certificate for some Christmas shopping, but I admittedly (but not guiltily!) spent it on a kick-ass (again, literally) pair of Vince Camuto black spiked booties that I'd been eyeing for months.

Thanks for the invite and to all the participants! Well done:)

All in all, I'd say it was a successful night. Here are the pics (courtesy of MSL Chicago) to prove it!

Love, Em.

C. Wonder & FNO!

Wow, I've been pretty inconsistent lately, haven't I? I do apologize, but I must say I'm not avoiding you all on purpose. Truth be told, I'm intensely job hunting, and it's no joke. Finding a job is practically a full-time job. And when you're searching amidst an internship and trying to maintain some semblance of a social life, it can become a pretty tough juggling act. But enough about that boring stuff...

When I was out in NYC last February for a school networking trip, I happened across an extremely colorful and eye-catching store while strolling through (and trying not to buy all of) SOHO. I decided to take a quick browse while I killed time before dinner and was pleasantly surprised by what I found. C. Wonder is a color-obsessed person's dream as it offers goodies - from home decor to jewelry to tech accessories - in a palette that rivals the prettiest of rainbows.  So, as you may have guessed, I was instantly obsessed. In the few minutes I had to scour the store, I managed to snag the two-tone clutch featured in this blog post. There are currently only nine stores in the U.S., but here's to hoping they open one in the Chicago area soon. I think it would be a hit. After all, there seems to be a little something for everyone - from the stud-wearer (me) to the monochrome-tote-bearing prepster.

Here's a selection of some of my favorite items. If you're interested in perusing all of C. Wonder's wonderfulness, visit their online shop!

And now, time for bed my friends. But, how could I forget...

Happy Fashion Night Out to everyone celebrating tomorrow!
I will be visiting a couple different events: Free People at Water Tower and the Chicago Sun-Times and Saks Fifth Ave event. Seriously cannot wait to spend the evening celebrating one of my favorite things! Bring on the fashion.

trend watch - ankle booties

I'm back and beginning to be recovered from an AMAZING weekend in Colorado for the wedding of a close family friend. Post on that coming soon! I apologize for my absence, but I'm back with some good material for you all:)

Between online shopping, obsessive reading of fashion mags and in-store shopping browsing, I can't help but notice that ankle booties are the must-have staple for the swiftly approaching fall season. As the perfect accompaniment for dresses, jeans, shorts, skirts - the list goes on, I'd say that it's worth your hard-earned money to invest in a pair for fall/winter. Whether you prefer spikes, glitter, tribal print, or simply no detailing, there's a pair out there for you. I've gathered a range of styles, so there's sure to be something below to catch your eye. And, I've provided some pics that show just how versatile ankle booties are!
